Sewage:
Vast amounts of sewage routinely find their way into coastal waters where people bathe and from which fish and shellfish are caught. Sewage contains all kinds of sanitary products, condoms, paper, plastics, bacteria and viruses that can cause life long serious challenging health problems.

Agricultural runoff:
fertilizers, weed killers, farm chemicals, farm animal excretion, wash into rivers and groundwater, causing algal blooms and potentially contaminating drinking water.

WHY ARE OCEANS AND WATERWAYS CONTAMINATED?

Contaminated Oceans and Waterways  involves the accumulation   of  plastic debris, or  chemical or biological substances that builds up in the environment (oceans and waterways) enough to be toxic (contaminated)  that adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat, oceans and humans.   Vast amounts of plastic debris routinely find their way into coastal waters where people bathe, aquatic life feeds, from which fish and shellfish are caught, and ground water that feeds into our drinking water.

Due to reports of contaminated drinking water from municipal sources, bottle water has become overwhelmingly popular.  Plastic pollution involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment (the ocean)  that adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat, oceans, and humans.

The disposing of plastic water bottles is polluting our oceans and waterways in catastrophic measures. The Incredible volume of plastic bottles have become one of the biggest environmental problems facing our globe today, with disposing  150 billion  plastic water bottles every year.

Americans empty 2.5 million plastic water bottles an hour.  Each one takes 500 years to decompose. This accumulates to millions of  tons of plastic bottle residue that  collect into our (already weakened) water ways. Plastic pollution involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely ffects wildlife, wildlife habitat, oceans, and humans. There are plastic islands as large as Texas floating in our oceans today.  The Incredible volume of plastic bottles have become one of the biggest environmental problems facing our globe today, with disposing  150 billion plastic water bottles every year.

WHAT IS GROUND WATER?

Water stored underground in aquifers is known as groundwater. Aquifers feed our rivers (waterways) and supply much of our drinking water. Over 50% of the United States population depends on groundwater for drinking water. Groundwater contamination occurs when man-made products such as gasoline, oil, human wastes seep into the groundwater and cause it to become unsafe to drink. Pesticides, fertilizers and untreated waste from septic tanks can find their way into groundwater.
