DEFORESTATION IS DEADLY TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Deforestation is the second largest human-made source of carbon dioxide. When trees are killed, they release the carbon (C02) they have stored for photosynthesis and release nearly a billion tons of carbon into the atmosphere per year.
According to EPA, in 2012, there is an unprecedented increase in CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 accounted for about 82 percent of all United States greenhouse gas emissions (discharges). Carbon dioxide (CO2) absorbs infrared radiation heat and the global temperature increases. CO2 makes its way into earth’s atmosphere through a variety of routes. For example, burning fossil fuels, releases CO2. Fossil fuel is a general term for buried combustible deposits of organic materials, formed from decayed plants and animals that have been converted to crude oil, coal, natural gas, or heavy oils by exposure to heat and pressure in the earth's crust over hundreds of millions of years.
